Electrofusion welding

We also offer an extended borehole service to bring the collector pipes up to your house where the ground source heat pump is located. Should there be more than one borehole, a central balancing manifold is used to equalise the flows from the different geothermal loops and bring them together (see picture below)

Synergy Boreholes and Systems Ltd use the latest computer controlled electrofusion welding techniques to produce pipe joints and fittings that are permanently welded. Not compression or glued fittings that may fail or leak over time.

Electrofusion welding is just what the name implies. Each fitting contains its own individual heating coil. Plugs on the fitting allow a strong current to be applied by the controller (see below) to the coil.

The exact welding time is computer controlled, based on a bar code on the fitting which is scanned into the controller to ensure optimum results.

We use electrofusion welded joints for the couplings and right angle bends in the pipework. Electrofusion uses electric heating elements to melt together the contact surfaces of the pipe and the fitting to provide a solid weld which effectively turns the joint into a single piece of solid material. Thus there are no screw fittings to work loose over time.

Our equipment even records and stores data regarding each welded joint, even down to its exact location as determined by GPS positioning!
