Top section of this page: WATER BOREHOLE SURVEY, Bottom section of this page: GEOTHERMAL BOREHOLE SURVEY
In order to give you a quote for your water borehole, we will need to know how far down we must drill, i.e. how deep down the water table is. This information can be provided by the BGS (British Geological Survey, or by a reputable geological consulting company.
The BGS has just announced (Feb 2010 for 8th March 2010) very significant price increases for many of its surveys.
As from the 8th March 2010 there will be a charge of £235 for a "base module"
Added to this will be one of a selection of tailored reports, e.g.
Groundwater abstraction (up to 20 cubic metres/day : +£300
Groundwater abstraction above 20 cubic metres/day : +£420
We are able to offer a lower cost high quality alternative to the BGS waterwell survey which now costs in total £535 Please click here for this option.
How to order a Water Borehole survey from the BGS.
Contact the BGS by phone: 01491 692 361 By Fax: 01491 692 345
Use the Survey Request page.
Or by e-mail at: hydroenq@bgs.ac.uk
They will need the following data:
To enable us to react quickly to your BGS survey, please ask the BGS to email a copy to Synergy Boreholes The BGS staff know us!, this will not cost any extra.
Alternatively, we can arrange the survey. We are close neighbours of the BGS and speak to them on a regular basis. We will charge you a £25 administration fee in addition to the £352.00. Should you subsequently decide to proceed and have us drill your borehole, we will be happy to refund the £377.00 (£560 as from 8th March 2010) in full.*

The process is as above. i.e. you contact the BGS directly, or use the Survey Request page.
Go to links, (see below, right) and look at the BGS geothermal report available. Cost is : £47 for the basic report.
This report gives estimated mean annual ground temperature and thermal conductivities. It is designed for a closed loop system where yields and water quality are not relevant.
We will be happy to arrange the survey for you. As above in the water section, we will charge a £25 administration fee on top of the BGS charge. Should you subsequently place your order for the borehole drilling with us we will be glad to refund this payment in full.
We can now offer reports from a different high quality source which can include more information relevant to borehole array design for larger heat pumps. Please click here for these.
