Water Borehole Design

A typical waterwell borehole will operate as shown below. Water borehole depths in the UK mostly range between 20m and 200m

    1. Discharge Pipe From Wellhead
    2. Concrete Slab For The Well House Foundations
    3. (Note: Many Details At The Top Of The Borehole Are Not Shown, In Order To Keep The Diagram Simple.
    4. For Example:- The Well House, Control Valve, Flow Meter, Electricity Supply Cable Etc.)
    5. Pump Chamber Casing
    6. Pumping Water Level In The Borehole
    7. Cement Or Bentonite Grout Sealing The Annulus Around The Pump Chamber Casing
    8. Electric Submersible Pump
    9. Water Inflow To The Pump Intake
    10. PVC Well Screen
    11. Gravel Filter Pack Filling The Annulus Around The Well Screen
    12. Groundwater Is Drawn Through The Screen Slots And Flows Up To The Pump Intake
    13. Groundwater Flows Through The Sand And Gravel Aquifer To The Well Screen
